Pro-Iranian groups kill fisherman in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, a fisherman lost his life after being shot by pro-Iranian armed groups near the town of Baghouz, east of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A local source close to the victim told North Press that the youth, Amjad al-Alyan, 28, was fired by one of the military points near al-Bukamal Bridge, east of Deir ez-Zor, without knowing the reason for the shooting.
Al-Alyan went out to fish in the Euphrates River at 4 am on Thursday, according to the source.
The source added that al-Alyan comes from the town of al-Suwayi’ya, which is under the control of the Syrian government, and he lived in the town of al-Arqoub, near Baghouz.
Pro-Iranian groups control the western bank of the Euphrates area.
On December 10, 2020 , the young Jassem Abduljabbar lost his life as a result of being shot by pro-Iranian groups, while his brother was injured when they were fishing in the town of al-Sousah, east of Deir ez-Zor.
