Turkish military targets Syria’s Hasakah countryside

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday evening, the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups targeted the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr, north of Hasakah.

“The Turkish army and the affiliated armed groups targeted the village of al-Derdara, 5 km north of Tel Tamr, and the village of Qubur al-Qarajneh in Zarkan area with artillery shells, a military source told North Press.

“The shelling was launched from the Turkish base located in the village of Aniq al-Hawa,” the source added.

The bombing continued until preparing the report.

Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed groups have consistently bombarded the areas around Tel Tamr since the Turkish invasion and occupation of Syria’s Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad in October 2019, which placed Tel Tamr just a few kilometers from the front lines between the former groups and the Syrian Democratic Forces and Syrian government forces.

Bombardment and attacks on the Tel Tamr countryside continue, even after agreements Turkey signed with Russian and American forces stipulating a ceasefire.
