Syrian government forces people of Hama to demonstrate in favor of Assad

HAMA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the Syrian government forced employees working in its institutions in the city of Hama, central Syria, to march in support of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Some employees said that they were ordered to go out in the march, in which the governor and heads of security forces participated, “to sign the biggest message of love for Assad.”

“We were informed to participate in the march in al-Assi Square on Sunday morning,” Maysam al-Lagbani ,29, an employee in a government institution, told North Press.

“However, none of the employees responded, except for the director and his assistants, since it coincided with Mother’s Day, so they could not force us.”

“On Wednesday, they forced us to march out in favor of Assad, and the majority of the participants were students, employees and security forces,” al-Lagbani added.

Khaled al-Alwani, 43, an official in a governmental school, indicated that an administrative circular was sent by Baath Party to send out students from schools to the Baath building to cheer for Assad.

“There is an emphasis and administrative circular for schools by activating the Baath Pioneers sector and teaching students to Baathist chants and shouts due to the approaching elections,” al-Alwani added.
