Fighting ISIS in Syria continues: US-led Global Coalition

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – We continue working with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to eliminate the Islamic State organization (ISIS), a leader of the US-led Global Coalition said on Tuesday.

Today, the SDF, with the participation of officials of the Global Coalition, celebrated the second anniversary of defeating ISIS militarily.

“ISIS sleeper cells are still existent (..) we will not rest until we win,” Ahmad Naser, commander of Global Coalition Special Forces, said.

“Work continues and fighting does not end. We will win the battle and make a flourishing future,” he added.

Naser assured their partnership with the SDF in fighting “the terrorist organization.”

He thanked the joined work with the SDF saying, “We have to be proud of the work together, as today marks the day of liberation and joy.”

On March 23, 2019, the SDF announced its control over ISIS last stronghold in Baghouz town, in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
