Autonomous Administration records over 100 coronavirus infections in Syria’s northeast
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced two deaths and 103 new coronavirus infections in northeast Syria.
AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the deaths are of a man from Hasakah and a woman from Derik.
Recently, the AANES-held areas have witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections.
In the Jazira region, the recorded infections were 48 in Qamishli, 21 in Hasakah, six in Girke Lege, five in Derik, two in Derbasiya, one in Rimelan, and one in Hawl Camp.
In the Euphrates region, the infections were nine in Raqqa, five in Tabqa, and one in Kobani.
Four infections were also recorded in Deir ez-Zor.
With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 9,221 confirmed cases, including 358 deaths and 1,274 recoveries.
