Syria’s Autonomous Administration records 100 new coronavirus infections in its areas
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced 3 deaths and 100 new coronavirus infections in northeast Syria.
AANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the death cases are of two men from Hasakah and Derik, and a woman from Qamishli.
The new infections were of 57 males and 43 females, according to Mustafa.
In the Jazira region, the infections are distributed as following: 51 in Qamishli, 11 in Hasakah, 6 in Gerke Lege, 2 in Derik, and one in Derbasiya.
In the Euphrates region, the infections are: 12 in Raqqa, 5 in Tabqa, 4 in Deir ez-Zor, 6 in Manbij, and 2 in Shahba region where those fled Afrin following the Turkish invasion, reside in.
With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 9,118 confirmed cases, including 356 deaths and 1,271 recoveries.
During the past period, the AANES-held areas have witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections, especially in Qamishli and Hasakah.
The imposition of a full or partial curfew in the Jazira region will be determined based on the rise of the numbers of coronavirus infections,” Health Committee spokeswoman in Qamishli, Roujin Ahmad, had earlier said.
