Turkish gendarmerie killed civilian on border east Aleppo

AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Turkish gendarmerie killed a civilian while trying to cross the border to Turkey in the region of Jarablus, east Aleppo.

“Abdo al-Waki, from al-Bab region, was shot dead by Turkish gendarmerie while he was trying to cross the separation wall between Syria and Turkey in Jarablus,” a special source told North Press.

On January 16, the body of the young Youssef al-Kheleif, from Deir ez-Zor, was found killed near the borderline with Turkey in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside, northwestern Syria.

Most of those trying to enter Turkish territory resort to dangerous smuggling routes in light of the lack of other ways to reunite their families or secure work to meet their needs.

Turkish-held areas in the eastern and northern countryside of Aleppo witness insecurity, explosions and constant tension amid the armed groups’ inability to control the situation.
