Syria’s Autonomous Administration records 77 new coronavirus infections

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Thursday, the Health Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) announced 4 deaths and 77 new coronavirus infections in northeast Syria.

ANES’ Facebook page quoted Jiwan Mustafa, the co-chair of the AANES Health Board, who stated that the death cases are of two men and a woman from from Qamishli and a man and a woman from Hasakah.

The imposition of a full or partial curfew in the Jazira region will be determined based on the rise of the numbers of coronavirus infections,” Health Committee spokeswoman in Qamishli, Roujin Ahmad, said on Wednesday.

During the past period, the AANES-held areas have witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections.

The new infections were recorded as the following: 16 in Hasakah, 36 in Qamishli, 5 in Derik, 5 in Tabqa, 1 in Manbij, 1 in Kobani, 2 in Girke Lege, 8 in Raqqa, and 4 in Deir ez-Zor.

With the announcement of these new cases, the number of people infected with coronavirus in the regions of northeast Syria has reached 8,977 confirmed cases, including 350 deaths and 1,259 recoveries.

On Tuesday, AANES Health Board recorded a death and 45 new coronavirus infections northeast Syria.
