IED exploded in Syria’s Afrin, casualties reported
AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, an IED exploded in the city of Afrin, northwest Syria, injuring two civilians lightly.
“The explosion took place in al-Mahmoudiya neighborhood near Usama Ibn Zayd mosque, as it was put inside a car,” a special source told North Press.
“The explosion led to the injury of two civilians, in addition to material damage to the place,” the source added.
On March 16, a VBIED exploded on al-Mazot road in the city of Afrin which caused only material damage.
The city of Afrin, north of Aleppo, has been under the control of the Turkish armed opposition groups since March 2018.
On March 18, 2018, the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups took over Afrin region after nearly two months of battles with Kurdish forces.
