Lockdown in AANES areas determined according to infections: health official

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – “The imposition of a full or partial curfew in the Jazira region will be determined based on the rise of the numbers of coronavirus infections,” Health Committee spokeswoman in Qamishli, Roujin Ahmad, said on Wednesday.

During the past period, the AANES-held areas have witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections.

Until March 16, the total number of coronavirus infections in the AANES-held areas reached 8,900, including 346 deaths and 1,259 recoveries, according to the Health Board.

“The possible curfew will be imposed after Newroz,” Ahmad added.

She pointed out that the constant rate of deaths and infections declared on an almost daily basis will eliminate the possibility of imposing a full or partial curfew in the Jazira region during the coming period.
