Defence Office issues amnesty for Newroz in Syria’s northeast

QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the General Command of the Self-Defense Forces (HXP, conscription-based forces in Syria’s northeast) in coordination with the Defence Office in North and East Syria (AANES) issued a general amnesty for those who have evaded military service in order to settle their conditions on the occasion of Newroz Day.

The amnesty was issued in a circulation within a joint letter number 21 that stated, “It was agreed to issue a general amnesty regarding fighters who evaded HXP service, and to settle their conditions.”

The circulation added, “The settlement covers those workers and volunteers within HXP ranks who are not involved with terrorist regimes, murders, thefts and embezzlements.”

The settlement process will start from March 21 and extend until August 15.
