Extremist group claims attack against Turkish forces northwest Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, the Expedition of Ansar Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, an extremist armed group operating in northwest Syria, claimed the operation of targeting a Turkish military vehicle in Idlib, northwestern Syria.
“One of our squads targeted a convoy of the Turkish army in the entrance of the industrial zone in the city of Idlib with an IED, on Monday afternoon,” the expedition said in a statement.
“The targeting resulted in the destruction of a military fuel tanker, killing those inside,” it added.
While the Turkish Ministry of Defense did not issue any statement regarding the incident.
On Monday, local sources told North Press that unidentified persons planted an IED on the road connecting the city of Idlib and the Bab al-Hawa border crossing, as it exploded while a convoy of Turkish forces passed.
In January, the expedition claimed a sniping operation that affected three members of the Turkish forces in Batbo town, north of Idlib.
