Syria’s Manbij commemorates 10th anniversary of Syrian war

MANBIJ, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, hundreds of the residents of the city of Manbij, north Syria, went on a march in commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Syrian war.

The march, which was organized by the Future Syria Party, started from al-Mizan Roundabout on Aleppo Road to the Public Square in the central of the city.

Hundreds took part in the march, including employees of the departments and members of the political parties in the city and its countryside.

Flags and banners of the Future Syria Party were raised, in addition to calls for the unity of the Syrian territory and the necessity of the peaceful solution to end the Syrian war and suffering.

During the march, head of the Future Syria Party-Manbij branch, Athab al-Aboud, made a speech where it stressed the necessity of the political solution to end the Syrian war.

“The goal of the march is not only to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Syrian war, but also to call those who started the peaceful movement to correct the track of the revolution,” al-Abboud said.

Al-Abboud called on the UN Security Council to expedite the political solution in Syria and pressure all parties to make a political settlement according to the UN Resolution 2254.

The resolution stipulates the beginning of peace talks between the disputing parties, immediately stops the attacks against the civilians and releases all the detainees.

The resolution also stresses the necessity of the Syrian people to decide the future of the country, form a transitional government and hodl elections under the UN auspices.
