Syrian government bombards opposition positions south of Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the Syrian government forces bombed positions of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups in southern Idlib, northwestern Syria.

the Syrian government forces targeted the sites of opposition groups in Zawiya Mountain, south of Idlib, with heavy artillery shells and rocket launchers.

The bombing affected all of the groups’ positions in the villages and towns of Fateira, Sufuhn, and Kafr Aweid in the southern part of the Zawiya Mountain region, one person was wounded.

The government’s bombardment coincided with intense flight of Russian reconnaissance aircraft in the area, the source added.

On Sunday, the Syrian opposition groups bombed sites of the government forces in the cities of Saraqeb and Ma’arat al-Nu’man, south and east of Idlib.

The areas of northwest Syria are included in the ceasefire agreement signed by Turkey and Russia last March after a military campaign in the region.
