Opposition groups thwart Syrian government advance in de-escalation zone

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday-Sunday night, Turkish-backed armed opposition groups thwarted Syrian government and Russian forces’ infiltration attempt in Ghab Plain, west of Hama Governorate.

The Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room managed to thwart an infiltration attempt by Syrian government forces in the Ghab Plain region, west of Hama, military sources told North Press.

Clashes with light and medium weapons took place in the middle of the night between the two parties, during which opposition groups managed to thwart an infiltration attempt.

Casualties were reported among government forces as they were forced to withdraw to their positions.

Although the ceasefire between Russia and Turkey has been in place since March 2020, the region is witnessing military escalation and mutual bombardment between the government forces and the opposition groups.
