Casualties in government bombardment in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, casualties were reported due to the mutual bombardment between government forces and opposition groups, during government forces’ shelling on villages and towns in south  Idlib, northwest Syria.

“Government forces targeted residential neighborhoods in the city of Ariha, located in the de-escalation zone in the southern countryside of Idlib, with artillery and missile shells, wounding six people,” field sources told North Press.

“Government missile strikes hit the sites of the opposition factions in the towns of al-Ruwaiha and Kansafra, south of Idlib, with no civilian or military casualties reported,” the source added.

The bombing coincided with an intense flight of warplanes and reconnaissance aircraft, according to the sources.

The sources stated, “The opposition groups targeted the gatherings of the Syrian government forces in the Dana area in the southern countryside of Idlib with heavy artillery shells,” without reporting information about material damage or casualties.

The areas of northwest Syria are included in the ceasefire agreement signed by Turkey and Russia last March after a military campaign in the region.
