AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Syrian government forces targeted the outskirts of the city of al-Bab, in the eastern countryside of Aleppo, with heavy artillery.
A local source told North Press that the government forces stationed in Radar Sha’ala targeted the vicinity of al-Bab with a number of artillery shells, with no causalities reported.
The government forces bombed the vicinity of al-Bab with four artillery shells near al-Azraq checkpoint, and on the road to the Abu al-Zendin crossing east of al-Bab, the source added.
The Turkish military base stationed in Aqil Mountain in the vicinity of the city responded by launching rockets at the government forces’ positions, according to the source.
On Friday, Tarhin area, east of al-Bab, was subjected to missile strikes from the government-held areas, killing a member of the “White Helmets”, a Civil Defense Organization, and wounding 9, including critical cases, whom were subsequently transferred to the city hospital.
Al-Bab, 30 km to the Turkish border, has been under the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups since 2017.
