IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, the Turkish forces and the Syrian armed opposition groups shelled the Syrian government forces’ military posts in areas in Idlib and Hama governorates, northwest Syria.
“The Turkish forces stationed near the city of Idlib targeted the government posts in the city of Saraqeb, east Idlib, with heavy artillery shells,” military opposition sources told North Press.
The Turkish shelling took place in response to the continuous shelling by the government forces on the vicinities of the Turkish posts in Zawiya Mountain, south Idlib, according to the sources.
Meanwhile, the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations’ Room targeted the government forces’ posts in Jurin Camp, west Hama, with heavy artillery shells and rocket launches, military sources told North Press.
On Friday, Russian warplanes conducted several airstrikes on the outskirts of the city of Ma’arat Mesrin, north Idlib, reporting no casualties.
Although the ceasefire between Russia and Turkey has been in place since March 2020, the region is witnessing a military escalation and mutual bombardment between the government forces and the opposition groups.
