Hawl Camp needs preventive measures to reduce fires, Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the administration of Hawl Camp, northeast Syria, said that it is necessary to equip sections inside and outside the camp to receive cases of burns, especially after the recent fire incident that resulted in the killing of children and women.

This came in a statement made by the administration of the camp due to the outbreak of a fire on Saturday in one of the rooms built of mud in the fourth section of the camp, which caused the death of seven children and two women.

The camp statement stated that the hospitals contracting with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the international organizations refused to receive the burn cases that were transferred to them from Hawl Camp, “under the pretext that there are no burn wards and the required medicines are not provided.”

Most of the injured were transferred to Public Hospital in the city of Hasakah, where 17 people are still receiving treatment, the majority of whom sustained light to moderate burns, according to a medical source at the hospital.
