Missiles hit US military base in Iraq

ERBIL, Iraq (North Press) – On Wednesday,the Ain al-Assad military base in al-Anbar governorate, west Iraq, which houses US forces, was targeted with multiple missiles.  

The Iraqi News Agency (INA) reported that “Ain al-Assad military base that houses American and Iraqi forces has been subjected to missile bombing on Wednesday morning.”

“10 missiles hit the base,” it added.

Following the attack, the Iraqi Security Media Cell released a statement in which it declared that it had found the missile base from which the missiles were launched.

“10 BM-21 Grad missiles fell on Ain al-Assad military base without casualties reported,” the statement added.

The Media Cell pointed out that investigations are ongoing and that more information will provided later.

On February 16, a civilian contractor was killed, and five civilians and a U.S. service member were wounded, in a rocket attack on Erbil.

Multiple rockets hit the Kurdistan Region of Iraq’s capital of Erbil and its surrounding areas, and some targeted Erbil International Airport.
