Damascus government causes economic and living crises: SDC
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday, Khalil Abdi, a member of Public Relations in the Euphrates Region of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), held Damascus government responsible for the worsening economic situation, prolonged war, and deteriorating living situation due to its adherence to its militarist mentality.
The government’s rejection of a political solution has led to a deterioration of the standard of living and devaluation of the Syrian pound, Abdi said in a statement to North Press.
His statement came as a response to the Damascus government accusation that the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria is controlling Syria’s oil and food resources, causing an economic crisis in the country.
Syria is going through a stifling economic crisis, especially after the decline in the purchasing power of the Syrian pound, as its exchange rate against the US dollar on Tuesday in Qamishli was 3,700 SYP.
Abdi said that capitalists are looking for a stable security situation and have transferred their investments abroad, which has led to the deterioration of the economic situation.
Recently, the Damascus government tried to create strife between Hasakah’s different communities and spread rumors that would destabilize the regions of northeastern Syria, but it failed, Abdi added.
He pointed out that the success and progress of the Autonomous Administration is clear, and it was not Kurdish, but the Kurds are part of the Autonomous Administration and it represents all the Syrian communities.
The government committed massacres against the Syrian people, which prompted human rights and humanitarian organizations and the countries of the world concerned with Syria to investigate and impose sanctions on Damascus, Abdi added.
The American Caesar Act sanctions target the Syrian regime and not the Autonomous Administration, which was affected by it by extension, Abdi concluded.
