Residents of Syria’s Ain Issa accuse Russia of coordinating with Turkey
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, residents of the town of Ain Issa, north of Raqa, accused the Russian forces of coordinating with Turkey to bomb the town.
The residents expressed their disappointment with the reliability of Russia’s promises to save the lives of the population and to intervene to stop bombing.
This came after the sudden withdrawal of the Russian forces early last week, and their return the following day, as the time lag witnessed a Turkish bombing on the outskirts of the town.
Ali Matar, a restaurant owner from Ain Issa, said that the presence and absence of the Russian forces in the town is the same for us, it does not change anything.
Abdulkafi Abbas, a shopkeeper from the town, doubted Russia’s goal in protecting the people of the town and stopping the Turkish shelling.
Abbas indicated that the Russian withdrawal coincided with the Turkish bombing, as if it was a prior coordination between the two.
Abbas expressed his astonishment at the Russian failure to respond to the Turkish bombing, even that the Russian forces respond to the sources of fire in the rest of the Syrian regions, such as Idlib, Hama and other regions.
The residents of the town called on the international community to intervene and stop the Turkish bombing on Ain Issa and the M4 Highway.
Ain Issa has been under constant bombardment by the Turkish forces and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups from time to time, causing casualties among the civilians in the town.
