Russian helicopter crashes outside Syria’s Tel Tamr

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Sunday, a Russian helicopter crashed in the countryside of the town of Tel Tamr, north of Syria’s Hasakah.

According to local reports, the aircraft crashed between the villages of Rahaniyah and Qasimiyah, northwest of Tel Tamr, two kilometers from the former dairy farm that Russian forces use as their base.

The crash killed the pilot, and preliminary investigations are still underway to determine the cause of the crash, according to a local source.

Russian forces have stationed at al-Mabaqer station in Tel Tamr via an agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) since late 2019, after Turkish forced and their affiliated armed opposition groups launched an attack on Sere Kaniye and Tel Abyad.
