Opposition calls for separate elections in Syria’s northwest: Syria Future Party
RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – On Saturday, Syria Future party head Ibrahim al-Qaftan said that the Syrian opposition has called for the holding of presidential elections in northwest Syria within areas “occupied by Turkey in order to found a new Cyprus there.”
On July 20, the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces announced the formation of a “High Electoral Commission” with the aim of enabling the Syrian opposition to compete in any elections.
“The opposition no longer has the free revolutionary national program that fulfills the requirements of the Syrian people,” al-Qaftan told North Press.
He pointed out that “the opposition is not serious in finding a solution to the Syrian crisis after it lost the political project and turned into gangs travelling to Libya, Azerbaijan, and other areas as Turkish mercenaries.”
Naser al-Hariri, head of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, acts independently and under the direction of Turkish agendas and deals with the Syrian issue in temperament and pretension in accordance with Turkish interests, according to al-Qaftan.
