ISTANBUL, Turkey (North Press) – On Tuesday, a Syrian refugee lost his life while he was working in a blacksmith workshop in the city of Mugla in Turkey.
The Syrian refugee, Abdullah al-Ahmad lost his life because he fell down of the third floor of a building while working in a blacksmith workshop in Mugla.
Syrian refugee workers in Turkey are witnessing tough conditions in light of the lack of laws to protect and compensate them in case they face dangerous incidents or lose their lives while working.
This incident caused great grief for several Syrians on social media.
As they expressed their extreme outrage at the condition of the Syrian refugees’ workers, especially since many of them have worked without any guarantees.
In November 2020, the Human Rights activist in Turkey, Qays al-Hassan reported about the new statistic for Syrian workers who lost their lives during workshops’ incidents.
“The Turkish government acknowledges the killing of Syrians or the death of some others while working,” Hassan said.
“During October, the National Council on Occupational Safety and Health in Turkey documented the death of 207 people including Syrian workers during work incidents throughout Turkey,” he added.
“Nine Syrians lost their lives in different workplace incidents throughout Turkey during October,” al-Hassan noted.
Turkey houses about 4,500,000 Syrian refugees, while other Turkish unofficial sources indicate that there are about 5,000,000 Syrian refugees, some of which have not been registered, according to Turkish official sources.
