Remnants of war kill a child in Syria’s east Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, a child from the town of Baghouz, 130 km east Deir ez-Zor, lost his life by remnants of war that was left behind after conflicts, which took place between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Islamic State (ISIS).
The child was playing with the explosive object without realizing its seriousness, a local source from the town told North Press.
On March 22, 2019, the SDF took over Baghouz, ISIS last stronghold in Syria after violent battles.
On January 5, the child Ahmad al-Osman lost his leg by remnants of war while he was grazing sheep in the town of Sousah near Baghouz.
In 2020, the Health Committee in the town registered 37 deaths and 40 handicaps due to war remnants explosions.
The town was a military semi-colony for ISIS where there were dozens of ammunition stores that were ruined through the Global Coalition airstrikes.
