Mutual shelling in de-escalation zone in Syria’s Idlib

IDLIB, Syira (North Press) – On Sunday, the de-escalation areas in Idlib, northwest Syria, witnessed mutual bombing between the Syrian government forces and the armed opposition groups.

Field sources told North Press that the government forces targeted villages and towns in Zawiya Mountain region, south of Idlib with dozens of missiles and artillery shells.

The same sources stated that the bombing reached Kansafra, Fatira, Fleifle, Sufuhn and the outskirts of the towns of Kafr Oweid and al-Bara, leaving material damage to public and private property, with no casualties reported.

The bombing coincided with intense flying of Russian drones and aircraft over Idlib, the northern countryside of Latakia and the western countryside of Hama.

Border areas with Turkey have also seen intense flying of Russian warplanes.

Meanwhile, military sources from the armed groups told North Press that the al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room destroyed a military bulldozer of the government forces by targeting it with a guided missile in the town of Afes, east of Idlib.

The al-Fateh al-Mubin Operations Room includes the National Front for Liberation and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, in addition to the Army of Glory, as they fight in the Idlib and Hama countryside.

Since the beginning of this year, the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria have witnessed a military escalation and mutual bombardment between the Syrian government forces and the armed groups, leaving dozens of casualties on both sides.

The sources added that al-Fateh al-Mubin targeted military positions of the government forces in the town of Dadikh, south of Saraqib, east Idlib with heavy artillery shells.
