Shelling on Syria’s Afrin expected to be of government

Azaz, Syria  (North Press) – On Wednesday evening, the Turkish-held city of Afrin, northwest Syria, was targeted with several shells leaving injuries among the civilians. 

“The Syrian government forces stationed in Nubl town bombed neighborhoods in Afrin with several shells, leaving several casualties”, a private source told North Press.

“The shells targeted the city center, behind al-Shifa’ Hospital in Villat neighborhood, in addition to targeting al-Mazot Road west of the city”, the source added. 

Meanwhile, the Turkish base stationed in al-Ashrafiya neighborhood in Afrin bombed the villages of Kasht’ar, Ebbin and Deir Jamal in al-Shahba area, north of Aleppo, according to the source.

In the evening, the Turkish forces targeted the vicinity of the villages of Tel Qarah and Tel Sosen, in al-Shahba area, in the northern countryside of Aleppo, with artillery shells. 

The city of Afrin has been under the control of the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups since March 2018.
