Russian-backed Syrian government forces send reinforcement to eastern Aleppo

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Russian-backed 25th Division has pushed, over the past two days, huge military reinforcements to eastern Aleppo, northern Syria, coinciding with a military escalation in the de-escalation zone.

A military source in the National Front for Liberation told North Press that the newly formed 16th Brigade, led by Colonel Saleh al-Abdullah, has so far sent three convoys from its military headquarters in Tel al-Jarad near Masyaf, west of Hama, to the countryside of Aleppo on the areas of Bab and Manbij.

Simon al-Wakeel, a group leader in the government’s National Defense militia in the city of Muhradah, north of Hama, sent groups to the same area, according to the source.

The 25th Division sent a military convoy from its positions in Ma’ar Shoreen, east of Ma’arat al-Nu’man to the south of Idlib, to the areas of al-Bab and Manbij, the last of which was this morning, according to the source.

He pointed out that small groups of the Fifth Corps were sent from Khan Assubul, southeast of Idlib, to the aforementioned areas.

There appears to be a new agreement between the Russians and the Kurds to hand over its sites adjacent to the contact lines to Russia, with the aim of preventing Turkey from any military operation, the source added.

A military source affiliated with the Turkish-backed opposition armed groups in Idlib ruled out that government forces would launch a military operation in Idlib, explaining that the forces brought in the countryside of Aleppo were offensive forces.

The forces that came as reinforcements participated in the battles of the southern countryside of Idlib and northern Hama, on which the Syrian government forces and Russia depend in their military campaigns.

“The aim of the reinforcements is to carry out a military operation, otherwise they would not have been withdrawn from the city of Ma`arat al-Nu`man, which is its focal point in the southern countryside of Idlib,” the source added.
