IED explodes in Syria’s Afrin, civilian wounded

AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – On Tuesday evening, an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded in the city of Afrin, northwest Syria, injuring an IDP from Rif Dimashq.

“The explosion took place at a gathering of Jaysh al-Sharqiya group near al-Sinaa School in the Mahmoudiya neighborhood,” a private source told North Press.

“The explosion resulted in the injury of Muhammad Muzare’, an IDP from Rif Dimashq,” the source added.

On February 14, a civilian was wounded due to a car bomb in Jinderis district, Afrin’s countryside.

Turkey, along with its affiliated armed opposition groups, announced their full takeover of Afrin on March 18, 2018. The Turkish military operation in Afrin displaced more than 300,000 of its original inhabitants, 100,000 of which settled in camps and destroyed villages in Aleppo’s northern countryside.
