Iranian-backed groups seize residential buildings in Syria’s Palmyra
PALMYRA, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, Iranian Revolutionary Guard –backed groups seized three residential buildings in al- Jamiat neighborhood in Palmyra in Homs’ eastern countryside, according to residents in the region.
The sources pointed out that three patrols from Liwa Fatemiyoun told about 34 families on Monday to evacuate their houses and hand them over to the Liwa Fatemiyoun office in Palmyra in the middle of the Syrian Desert.
In the recent period, the groups took over several houses and lands in Palmyra city and its environs in the eastern countryside of Homs, without the government moving a finger, according to residents.
Haji Muhammad, a resident of al- Jamiat neighborhood, told North Press that a patrol from Liwa Fatemiyoun informed them that they needed to evacuate the house within 72 hours or prove their ownership.
The armed groups asked the inhabitants of these houses for papers that prove their ownership, but most of the owners are either living abroad or in other areas of Syria, and those who are currently living in them are their relatives, according to residents.
Abdullah al-Razzaq told North Press that he has been given a time to leave his neighborhood home.
He mentioned that he and his family (his wife and two children) are living in his uncle’s house, who has been in Raqqa for a long time.
