Children Protection Office hands over minors to parents in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press)  On Saturday, the Child Protection Office in Armed Conflicts in northeast Syria’s Hasakah handed over six minors to their parents where officials said they contacted the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in order to join them.

“Today, we ruled out 6 minors from the military forces,” Child Protection Office co-chair Khaled Jabr said in a statement to North Press.

“The handing over is done according to the international laws signed between the AANES and the UN, which prevent the recruitment of the minors,” he added.

On February 9, the Child Protection Office in Hasakah handed over seven minors to their parents after they joined the SDF.

The AANES Executive Council established the Child Protection Office late in August. This step came after an agreement signed by SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi with the United Nations to prevent the recruitment of children and their use as combatants in armed conflict.
