RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – For the second consecutive day, the forensic medicine department of the Initial Response Team continue working in a mass grave which was found in the west of the city of Raqqa, northern Syria.
The leader of the Initial Response Team in Raqqa, Yasser Khamis, told North Press, “We have begun exhuming the bodies from mass grave no. 28, near al-Furousiya area since Tuesday, after receiving a tip from the people.”
“The number of the bodies expected to be found in the grave ranges from 15 to 18, and the team has exhumed two of them so far,” he added.
Since the beginning of its work in December 2018, the Initial Response Team has been able to exhume more than 6,100 bodies found in 28 graves, scattered in the city of Raqqa and its villages.
