Calls for defection from SDF “inciteful”, notables in Syria’s Raqqa

RAQQA, Syria (North Press) – In a statement published on Tuesday, the Notables Board in north and east Syria denounced calls on Arab tribesmen to defect from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), describing that as “inciteful.”

Recently, pro-Syrian Government social media outlets circulated calls on Arab tribesmen to stand against the SDF and called for defecting from it.

The Notables Board said that these calls aim at creating discord and destabilize the situation and civil peace between the communities of northeastern Syria.

Early in February, the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, witnessed a shootout between the internal security forces (Asayish) and the pro-Syrian government National Defense Forces (NDF), resulted in the death of an NDF member and the injury of three others.

The notables called on the members of the Arab tribes to stand together in the face of the incitements that call for sedition and internal strife.

A few days ago, tribal leaders and civil activists in Raqqa condemned the practices of the Syrian government for its attempt to sow discord between Arabs and Kurds in Hasakah.

They called on the civilians not to be dragged behind parties that want to destabilize security and stability in northeastern Syria.
