Body of young man found in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor countryside

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Residents of the town of Meheimida in Deir ez-Zor’s western countryside found a body of a young man who was kidnapped and assassinated by unknown persons on Sunday.

“The townspeople of Meheimida found the body of Khaled al-Zerban on Sunday morning,” a military source told North Press.

“On Saturday, al-Zerban was kidnapped by unknown persons and was shot dead in the entrance of the town on Sunday morning,” the source added.

On Saturday, a woman died and her husband was injured due to shooting by unidentified persons driving a van in Thiban town, south of Deir ez-Zor city.

Deir ez-Zor’s western countryside has recently witnessed multiple killings recently amid security operations of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Global Coalition to pursue Islamic State (ISIS) cells.

A large-scale operation started on February 4, with the participation of the People’s Protection Units (YPG), Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), and Internal Security Forces (Asayish) “because of the increase in the operations and attacks by ISIS,” the SDF press office said in a statement.
