Woman killed, man injured in shooting in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor
DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a woman died and her husband was injured due to shooting by unidentified persons driving a van in Thiban town, south of Deir ez-Zor city.
Deir ez-Zor’s western countryside has recently witnessed multiple killings recently amid security operations of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Global Coalition to pursue Islamic State (ISIS) cells.
A local source in Thiban town told North Press that Ahmed Mouhammed al-Nasir was hit by two bullets in his shoulder while his wife died immediately after she was shot.
Al-Nasir works in a bakery which he owns, and he didn’t belong to any military group. He was driving with his wife the moment they were shot, the source added.
ISIS claimed responsibility for the killing of members of the SDF, the Autonomous Administration in North and East Syria (AANES) employees, and some clan notables in the past period.
On Wednesday, a civilian was shot dead by unidentified persons driving a motorcycle in al-Hawaij town, of Deir ez-Zor’s eastern countryside.
