Asayish denies return of tension in Syria’s Qamishli and Hasakah
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – An official source in the Internal Security Forces (Asayish) denied the validity of reports regarding the return of tension and the siege of the two security squares in the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli in northeastern Syria on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, pro-Syrian government media outlets reported that the Asayish had re-positioned at their points to prevent the entry of foodstuffs and flour into the Syrian government-held areas.
“These reports are inaccurate and there is no new tension in the area,” the official source in the Jazira Asayish told North Press.
“The Asayish points are in their previous locations, in anticipation of any security violation by the Syrian government forces,” he added.
On Tuesday, the Asayish announced the “return of normal life” to the cities of Hasakah and Qamishli after more than two weeks of tension in the cities.
Samar Hussein, co-chair of the Interior Board of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), said that ending the tension in Qamishli and Hasakah, is “a goodwill gesture by the Asayish.”
“Food and basic supplies will be brought into the two Security Squares in Qamishli and Hasakah, starting from today,” she told North Press.
