Child Protection Office of Syria’s AANES returns minor to family in Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – The Child Protection Office in Armed Conflicts in Hasakah, northeastern Syria, handed over a minor who had joined the military forces to her family on Wednesday.
Khaled Jabr, co-chair of the Child Protection Office in Hasakah, said they received a 15-year-old child girl from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The minor comes from an IDP family from the Afrin region that resides in the city of Hasakah.
“Since the establishment of the office, the number of the minors we handed over to their families reached 16, under the agreement signed between the SDF and the UN,” Jabr told North Press.
On January 28, the Child Protection Office in Armed Conflicts in Hasakah handed over three minors who had joined the military forces to their families.
The AANES Executive Council established the Child Protection Office late in August. This step came after an agreement signed by SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi with the United Nations to prevent the recruitment of children and their use as combatants in armed conflict.
