Civilian killed by unknown assailants in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, a civilian was shot dead by unknown individuals riding a motorcycle in the town of Hawaij Thiban in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

A military source from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) told North Press that unknown gunmen fired at Tariq al-Fadil while he was on the highway in the town of Hawaij Thiban. The source added that al-Fadil died instantly, and the perpetrators fled.

The eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor is witnessing widespread assassinations amid security operations by the SDF and Global Coalition to pursue cells and members of the Islamic State.

On Tuesday, the SDF arrested three members of an ISIS cell in the Deir ez-Zor countryside, with air support from the Global Coalition.

ISIS has claimed some assassinations that have targeted members of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Autonomous Administration employees, and some tribal leaders.
