Coronavirus cases pass 21,000 in Syria’s opposition-held northwest

IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – The Syrian Interim Government, a Syrian opposition government based in Turkey and associated with the Syrian National Coalition, announced a new coronavirus toll in opposition-held areas in northwest Syria on Tuesday.

The Interim Government announced through a spreadsheet published on its official website the recording of nine new cases of coronavirus and 20 recoveries in northwest Syria.

The newly recorded infections brought the official toll to more than 21,015 cases in northwest Syria, including 400 deaths and 16,779 recoveries, according to health organizations.

The northwestern regions of Syria are witnessing a decrease in the number of coronavirus infections compared to the previous period, according to the figures of the Interim Government.

On Tuesday, the Interim Government announced the registration of nine new cases of coronavirus, one death, and 26 recoveries in northwestern Syria.

Northwest Syria tops the list of Syrian regions regarding coronavirus infections, with the number of infections exceeding 21,000.
