Uneasy calm amid tensions between Asayish, government forces in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Monday, the city of Hasakah, northeast Syria, witnessed an uneasy calm a day after mutual shooting that took place between Syrian government forces and the Internal Security Forces (Asayish), killing a government member and wounding three others.

In a statement on Sunday, Asayish General Command held government officials in Hasakah responsible for the recent tensions that have been going on in the area.

In the statement, the Asayish accused the pro-Syrian regime National Defense Forces (NDF) of sowing discord between communities.

The neighborhoods of the city have witnessed uneasy calm today and a natural movement of residents between the government-held security square and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES)-held areas.

One of the residents, who preferred to be unnamed for security reasons, residing in the security square, said that he came to the market in order to buy his basic needs without facing any obstacles.

It is worth mentioning that the city is witnessing an alert for any urgent developments between the two parties.
