Delay in rehabilitating Hajin Hospital in Syria’s Deir ez-Zor

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Head of the Supervisory Committee for the rehabilitation project of Hajin Hospital, east Deir ez-Zor, Abdul Salam al-Shua’ib said on Sunday that the reason for not completing the project of the hospital is due to the delay in the payment of financial statements.

Al-Shua’ib stated that most of the project has been implemented, and the work was proceeding at a good pace, with the ceilings and the internal wiring being completed.

He pointed out that pre-final touches are in place, such as installing floors, exterior stone walls, painting and decorating works.

The Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES), started a project to rehabilitate the hospital of the city of Hajin in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, northeastern Syria, after repeated requests from the region’s residents, on October 29, 2020.

The project period was 100 days, which means that the restoration work of the hospital is supposed to be completed on February 8.

The work was extended for 60 days by a decision of the AANES, and in the event that the mechanical works of the project were assigned, the work contract would be extended for another 60 additional days, according to al-Shua’ib.

The residents of Hajin returned to their homes in 2019, after the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), with the support of US-led Global Coalition, managed to expel the Islamic State (ISIS) from it at the end of 2018.

The population of the city of Hajin is approximately 94,000, and the municipality was established in it in 2019 after the end of the war and the return of residents to it, according to the Services Committee in Hajin.
