CAIRO, Egypt (North Press) – Atef Abdel Jawad, an Arab political analyst from the United States, identified four main files on the table of the new American president Joe Biden, during the first 100 days of his presidency.
Abdel-Jawad said in exclusive statements to North Press that internal issues will be the primary concern of the new American administration during that period, and perhaps during the first two years of Biden’s presidency.
He ruled out the possibility that Biden would have new and influential initiatives in the Middle East, and that his interest in would be focused on the issue of rights and freedoms in the region.
Biden will look to restoring relations with European allies and returning to international agreements from which former President Donald Trump withdrew during his presidency that sparked widespread controversy, according to Abdul-Jawad.
Biden identified his most important internal and external priorities, starting with coronavirus and the distribution of vaccines. He said he would ask the American people to wear face masks for the first 100 days of his presidency.
The second file is related to efforts to revive the economy, which has deteriorated due to coronavirus, according to Abdul Jawad.
Biden proposed to Congress to allocate 1.9 trillion dollars immediately to help individuals, institutions, those who are unemployed, hospitals, states, and small businesses.
The third file is the improvement of ethnic relations in the country after incidents in which the police used violent practices against black Americans.
Biden calls this the file of racial justice, which is critical in light of the violent events that took place on the 6th of January when supporters of President Donald Trump stormed the Capitol building.
He determines the fourth file in the issue of climate change, which also combines domestic and foreign policy.
Biden will internally cancel Trump’s policies that led to more carbon emissions inside the United States.
On the external level, Biden will return to joining Paris climate agreement, from which Trump withdrew, and he will also move to restore the confidence of America’s allies in Europe and Asia.
Abdel Jawad indicates that the above are Biden’s most important priorities in the first months of his presidency, and perhaps in the first two years of his presidency.
Biden will be busy with the these issues, and will not have major initiatives in the Middle East apart from focusing on human rights and freedoms as a basis for US relations with the countries of the region, according to the political analyst.
Abdel Jawad expressed his belief that Biden’s first action is to join the Paris climate agreement and stop the ban on Muslims traveling to the United States.
