Syria’s AANES in Qamishli meets with bakeries’ owners as bread crisis continues
QAMISHLI, Syria (North Press) – Officials of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) met with the owners of the subsidized bakeries on Saturday in the city of Qamishli, northeastern Syria, to resume their work after several days of suspensions.
“We met with the bakeries’ owners to find a mechanism that satisfies them and the population,” an official source of the Economy and Agriculture Board of the Jazira region told North Press.
“The AANES has intensified its meetings in the recent period to solve the bread crisis, expecting a solution soon,” the source added.
Since January 14, the city of Qamishli has been witnessing a suffocating bread crisis amid large gatherings of people in front of bakeries to get their need of bread.
“The subsidized bakeries have suspended their work due to problems of bread pricing and providing flour,” Liman Heseno, vice president of the Economy and Agriculture Board of the Jazira region, had previously told North Press.
