Body found on border with Turkey in Syria’s Afrin
AZAZ, Syria (North Press) – The body of a killed young man was found near the border with Turkey in Bulbul district in Afrin countryside, northwestern Syria, on Saturday.
A source told North Press that the body belongs to Youssef al-Khleif of al-Ashara clan in Deir ez-Zor governorate, eastern Syria.
“He was sniped by the Turkish gendarmerie while trying to cross into Turkish territory to get treatment, as he was suffering from diabetes and was subjected to very strong seizures,” he added.
On December 9, the body of an elderly man named Muhammad Abu Fuad from Damascus, was found in an agricultural land of Sharran district in the countryside of Afrin after he had been kidnapped for more than once a week.
Most of those trying to enter Turkish territory resort to dangerous smuggling routes in light of the lack of other ways to reunite their families or secure work to meet their needs.
Afrin region, which is under the control of the Turkish forces and Turkish-backed armed opposition groups, has been witnessing a security chaos, explosions and constant tension since March 2018.
