Renewed clashes in villages in Syria’s Ain Issa

AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – On Wednesday, the village of Mu’alaq, west of Syria’s Ain Issa, witnessed clashes between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkish-backed armed opposition factions, according to a military sources from the SDF.

The town of Ain Issa witnessed clashes on Tuesday night between the two parties. Military sources added that on Wednesday, the SDF destroyed a technical belonging to the armed groups in the village of Mu’alaq.

For weeks, the town of Ain Issa has been witnessing intense Turkish shelling targeting the outskirts of the town, amid attempts to advance by members of the armed opposition groups.

Both the Ain Issa Civil Council and Tel Abyad Military Council have denied rumors that the SDF will hand the town over to the Syrian regime, and SDF spokesman Kino Gabriel has stated that the attacks on Ain Issa are the Turkish-backed opposition’s attempts at controlling the M4 Highway, a vital trade route that connects eastern and western Syria.
