Turkey sends more reinforcements to northwestern Syria
IDLIB, Syria (North Press) – Turkish forces sent more military reinforcements into Syrian territory on Sunday to reinforce their bases in the de-escalation zone in northwestern Syria.
A convoy of Turkish troops entered on Sunday from the Kafr Lossin border crossing into Syrian territory in Idlib governorate, according to a North Press field source.
The convoy included 15 military armored vehicles and vehicles carrying ammunition and logistics, which were distributed among Turkish bases in the south of Idlib governorate.
Turkish forces sent a military convoy consisting of dozens of vehicles into Syria in late 2020 to support their bases in Zawiya Mountain, where military escalation is ongoing.
Turkish forces have established more than 60 military bases in the governorates of Idlib, Aleppo, Hama, and Latakia since their military intervention in Syria.
Some 12,000 troops are reportedly present, as well as 11,160 Turkish military armored vehicles in the de-escalation zone under an agreement between Moscow and Ankara.
Recently, the region has witnessed military escalation and mutual shelling between Syrian government forces and Turkish-backed opposition militant groups.
