Dozens of Syrian families leave Hawl Camp in Syria’s northeast

HAWL, Syria (North Press) – A new batch of Syrian IDPs left Hawl Camp, east of Hasakah, on Wednesday, heading to their regions in Raqqa and Tabqa.

This was the ninth batch of the displaced people leaving the camp, numbering 111 families with a total of 385 persons.

“We are continuing to send families out of the camp,” Refugees Office chair Sheikhmous Ahmed told North Press.

“There will be other batches in the next year leaving Hawl Camp and heading to other Syrian regions,” he added.

However, this will be done after guarantees by some international institutions and authorities to ensure they arrive at their regions, according to Ahmed.

The eighth batch, which included 21 families, were evacuated on December 21.

The number of families who have left Hawl Camp has reached 6,155 Syrian families, with a total of 22,231 persons, and 8,284 Iraqi families with a total of 30,706 persons.

The decision to evacuate Syrian families from Hawl Camp came as a resolution of the tribes’ conference held in May 2019 in Ain Issa.

In October, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, based on the initiative launched by the Syrian Democratic Council and the wishes of the tribes’ notables and sheikhs, decided to evacuate Syrian families who wished to leave from Hawl Camp.

The number of foreign ISIS families in the camp is 2,625, with a total of 8,965 persons, according to Ahmed.
