We did not discuss surrendering Ain Issa with Russians: Tel Abyad military council
AIN ISSA, Syria (North Press) – Tel Abyad Military Council Commander Riyad al-Khalaf denied any discussions with Russian forces regarding the surrender of the town of Ain Issa to Syrian government forces.
In a phone call with North Press, al-Khalaf said that what is rumored through some media is nothing but a media war that has no credibility on the ground.
“The indiscriminate shelling is still continuing, and there are bodies of civilians which are still under rubble as the groups do not allow us to remove them,” he added.
Media outlets reported on Monday that the Syrian Democratic Forces will surrender the town of Ain Issa to Syrian government forces.
For two weeks, the villages of Jahbal and Mushairfa have been witnessing almost continuous Turkish artillery shelling and daily clashes between the SDF and the Turkish-backed armed opposition groups.
Turkey signed two ceasefire agreements, one with the US and another with Russia, after the Turkish military operation in Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Tel Abyad. However, violations of the ceasefire by Turkey and their affiliated opposition groups occur on a regular basis.
