Christians celebrate Christmas with Archbishop in Syria’s Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria (North Press) – On Friday, Christians in Hasakah city, northeast Syria, celebrated Christmas.

Hundreds of people participated in the service and prayers in the Syriac Orthodox Saint George’s Cathedral with the participation of church scouts.

Bishop Maurice Amsih, Archbishop of Euphrates and Jazira, congratulated all Christians in the world, calling for “the coronavirus pandemic to be kept away from humanity.”

The ceremonies that were held in Hassakah witnessed a lack of commitment to the preventative measures and physical distancing.

It is noteworthy that Armenian Christians, Catholics and Orthodox, celebrate the anniversary of the birth of Christ according to the Eastern calendar on the sixth of January of each year.
